Potent Talks – connecting people to research, insights, and stories; a space to spark conversations, and inspire people toward realising their fullest potential that we believe lies at the intersection of self, community and nature.

HUMAN POTENTIAL
PROJECT

We believe that maximizing individual potential is an important element to maximizing our collective potential.

As the project has evolved, members have turned their focus outward to consider the interdependency of fully realized human potential, community and the health of our planet.

We're asking every Albertan to help us answer this question:

"What do you think might be the most impactful action or direction we need to take to become a region where citizens, the environment, and the economy thrive as we move forward?"

Land Acknowledgement

Spanning generations, acknowledgement of the land is a traditional custom of Indigenous people when welcoming outsiders onto their land and into their homes. To build respectful relationships, acknowledging the land is an important part of reconciliation. It honours the authentic history of North America, its original people and tells the story of the creation of this country that has historically been missing.

As we invite you to share your thoughts and ideas for the future of our region, Potent Talks acknowledges those that came before us.

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis, and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. Finally, we acknowledge all Nations – Indigenous and non – who live, work and play on this land, and who honour and celebrate this territory.

With gratitude to the Calgary Foundation for their articulation of this land acknowledgement.
